Configure payment provider

The implementation with VTEX stores consists of two steps. First, you must install Mercado Pago Payment App to ensure reconciliation of all your transactions between both platforms. Then, you must configure Mercado Pago as a payment provider.

1. Install Mercado Pago Payment App

The installation of Mercado Pago Payment App must be requested from VTEX Support. Follow the steps below to do so.

  1. In the VTEX admin panel, located on the left sidebar, go to Apps > Extensions Hub > App management.
  2. Click on the question mark ("?") at the top right of the screen.

  1. Select the Talk to our experts option.
  2. Complete the requested fields with your email, name, and account identification, and click Continue.
  3. Select the Technical option and request the installation of Mercado Pago Payment App for the store.

From this point on, you will complete the application installation with VTEX Support.

Once this process is finished, you must configure the application. To do this, simply access Apps > Extensions Hub > App management, search for the application, and click the Settings button. There, you must complete the Application Key field with your Public KeyPublic key of the application, which is used in the frontend to access information and encrypt data, whether in the development or testing stage. and click Save.

By doing so, you will have completed your Mercado Pago Payment App installation and can continue with your configurations.

2. Configure Mercado Pago as payment provider

Follow the steps below to perform the configuration.

  1. In your VTEX platform admin panel, go to Store Settings > Payment > Providers.
  2. At the top of the screen, click the New provider button to create an affiliation with Mercado Pago.

  1. Use the search engine to find the MercadoPagoV2 connector and select it. This will take you to a new screen.
  2. On this screen, you will be asked for Mercado Pago credentials for Provider Authorization. Complete the fields as appropriate:

App keyThis field refers to the Public Key of the Mercado Pago application. Since you are in the development stage, you should use the Public Key of the test user applicationPublic key of the test user application, which is used in the frontend to access information and encrypt data, whether in the development or testing stage. You can access it by logging in with your test user and going to Your integrations > Application details > Production > Production credentials. Later, you can change it to a production one.
App tokenThis field refers to the Access Token of the Mercado Pago application. Since you are in the development stage, you should use the Access Token of the test user applicationPrivate key of the test user application, which is used in the frontend to access information and encrypt data, whether in the development or testing stage. You can access it by logging in with your test user and going to Your integrations > Application details > Production > Production credentials. Later, you can change it to a production one.
Remember that credentials should only be shared securely and within the Mercado Pago environment. Go to Credentials > Share credentials to learn how to do it.
  1. In the Basic information section, assign a name to the connection with Mercado Pago. This name will be used so you can identify this connection within the store.
  2. In Payment control, keep Test mode disabled to ensure the correct functioning of the test flow later on.
  3. Then, in the Automatic settlement field, select the Use behavior recommended by the paymengt processor option. This way, VTEX will respect the capture deadlines you establish for Mercado Pago in the next steps, and you can count on the security of our anti-fraud control.
  4. Complete the Provider fields following the instructions below.

Deadline, in business days, for the purchase order to expire. If the customer pays outside the deadline, the money will be deposited in their Mercado Pago account. This configuration will only take effect if you activate payments in the Mercado Pago environment with Checkout Pro and offline payment methods.

Store name. The value of this field will appear on the customer's purchase invoice.

Maximum number of installments for the payment. With Mercado Pago, you can offer up to 12 installments.

3-D Secure is a protocol created to protect transactions in e-commerce through an additional layer of identity verification before final authorization. Only transactions rejected for high risk are sent for 3DS validation so it will not affect the shopping experience.

To activate it, disable Binary mode and select the Yes option.

Store's line of business.

To help our fraud prevention system, you have the option to share store or product category data for each performed transaction. We recommend choosing the Store Category option.

In case of cancellation, you can choose whether you want Mercado Pago to automatically refund the money, or if you want to retain the paid amount so the customer can use it for future purchases within the same store.

Configure whether you want the store to accept pending payments. If you select the No option, the transaction will remain pending for 48 hours or until payment is made, and the stock involved in that purchase will be retained for the same period of time. If you select Yes, pending transactions will be rejected and stock will be automatically released.

Remember that to use 3DS, binary mode needs to be disabled.

Allows excluding payment methods so they are not available at the time of purchase. Excluding methods and payment types at this stage will limit those options only in case of implementing Payments in Mercado Pago environment with Checkout Pro.

You must type the names of each one, as shown in Exclude payment types and methods. You will be excluding particular payment methods (visa, rapipago, amex, etc.)

You can also exclude payment types in their entirety (credit_card; debit_card; ticket). You can see the available options in Exclude payment types and methods. Make sure to type the names exactly as they are listed to ensure the exclusion process is correct.

Excluding methods and payment types at this stage will limit those options only in case of implementing Payments in Mercado Pago environment with Checkout Pro.

Select the Aggregator option, which is the mode in which you can process payments with Mercado Pago.

If you are a developer, complete with your Mercado Pago identification.

This field identifies the store's currency. You don't need to complete it.

Seller account where the sales money will be deposited. It is not necessary to complete this field.

You can configure a delay in the payment capture that VTEX makes by selecting from the dropdown options. If you don't want to configure it, select Disabled.

Configure the time range that should be waited to cancel a purchase not completed at checkout. You can select a time range from the dropdown options, or choose Do not cancel.

Once you have completed all the fields, click Save to complete your connection with Mercado Pago as a payment provider.
